Listen to the grandmotherly, \u201cMission Wall\u201d who introduces them to indigenous builders, soldiers, padres, and more.&nbsp; (The tour aligns with CA HSS 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.2.4, 3.3.1, 3.3.2; 4.2.1, 4.2.3, 4.2.4, 4.2.5, 4.2.6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Offered:<\/strong> Daily<br><strong>Times:<\/strong> 9:00 a.m. &#8211; 3:00 p.m.<br><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 80 minutes<br><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $14 per student<br><strong>Chaperones: <\/strong>1 free chaperone for every 10 students. Additional chaperones can be added to the reservation and will receive a discount by booking in advance at $16 each. This program includes course instruction followed by an arrowhead necklace making kit. Mission Matters and partner programs are always subject to modification\/cancellation due to the lack of covered and safe space and the potential for safety concerns. Through hands-on activities and demonstrations, students will explore the biodiversity of animals, understand their cultural significance, and investigate the interdependence between animals, the Acjachemen, and the environment. Students will engage in discussions and participate in hands-on activities to understand light sources during the early years of the Spanish Missions and the importance of candles for illumination. In their exploration of scientific concepts related to energy transfer, light reflection, and patterns, students will create their own candle with personalized decorative features to take home (Workshop curriculum aligns with NGSS: 4-PS3-2, 4-PS4-2, PS4-3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Offered:<\/strong> Wednesday and Friday<br><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 60 minutes<br><strong>Start Time:<\/strong> 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.<br><strong>Location: <\/strong>Picnic Area, unless raining. Children experience lively music, storytelling, songs, games, and dance with opportunities to participate. Students leave with an appreciation of and what it means to be \u201ckeepers of the earth\u201d (Presentation aligns with CA HSS 3.21., 3.2.2 and 4.2.1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to Jacque\u2019s desire to cut back and enjoy a partial retirement, this program may feature Jacque\u2019s son Jackson Tahuka Nu\u00f1ez, a next generation Acjachemen storyteller who is trained and endorsed by Jacque herself, also a proud mother!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dates Offered Fall 2025:<\/strong> October 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17<br><strong>Fall Start Time:<\/strong> 9:30 a.m.<br><strong>Dates Offered Spring 2026:<\/strong> April 14, 15,16, and 17<br><strong>Spring Start Time:<\/strong> 11:00 a.m.<br><strong>Duration: <\/strong>1 hour<br><strong>Location:<\/strong> Central Courtyard, unless raining. All adults with a school group will be given a special sticker indicating they are an approved part of the field trip as either a teacher\/aide or chaperone. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 For audio tours, additional parents over the free 1:10 ratio are welcome to join the group with an advanced reservation. They get a reduced entry rate of $16. If they show up on the day of Field Trip, they are charged full price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Due to space limitations on guided tours, additional parent chaperones over the 1:10 ratio will not be allowed. This will be strictly enforced.&nbsp; For groups that want to have more parent involvement, we recommend reserving our audio guided tour (Teachers and Teacher Aides are always free).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The Mission is closed to the public on Mondays. If arriving on a Monday, all guests including parent visitors must be paid for on the invoice in advance. Walk-ups are not permitted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Audio Tours Chaperones<\/strong><br>\u2022 Assign 1 free teacher or chaperone for every 10 students.<br>\u2022 Teachers and chaperones must help check-out, distribute, and return the audio players.<br>\u2022 Teachers and chaperones are responsible for damaged or lost audio players.<br>\u2022 Audio tours will be made available to adults if there are devices in stock.&nbsp;<br>\u2022 Additional parents guests without a reservation are charged full price of $18 vs. reduced rate of $16.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guided Tours Chaperones<\/strong><br>\u2022 Teachers may divide student groups evenly into groups of no more than 30 guests for the guided tour (this includes chaperones and students).<br>\u2022 Please assign 1 free teacher or parent chaperone for every 10 students\/maximum 3 per tour group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Be a Good Chaperone: Tips for Successful Support<\/strong><br>\u2022 Give your chaperones a role to make your field trip run smoothly.<br>\u2022 Chaperones should be assigned to lead a group by the teacher prior to the visit.<br>\u2022 Ask chaperones to set a good example by listening when Mission staff, volunteers<br>or education partners are speaking.<br>\u2022 Ask chaperones to stay with students at all times.<br>\u2022 Ask chaperones to turn off\/mute their cell phones during the guided tour.<br>\u2022 Have them help manage students who are having attention or behavioral issues.<br>\u2022 Let us know of any concerns immediately. The funds will be directed to the<br>Adopt-A-Class Scholarship Program. &nbsp;<br>\u2022 <strong>Payments are nonrefundable,<\/strong> but may be transferrable given unique, approved circumstances.<br>\u2022 No shows or tours cancelled on the day of arrival are not eligible for a refund and will not be rescheduled.<br>\u2022 Programming may also be <strong>cancelled<\/strong> if a group arrives more than 30 minutes after the scheduled tour. You might have a good reason but we are unable to accommodate.<br>\u2022 The Mission is not able to guarantee same day arrival adjustments, changes or refunds based on the number of attendees that actually show up. All our learning programs support the California History-Social Science Content Standards and Framework (CA HSS). In addition to this, many of our education programs also align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). While educational experiences are geared toward 3<sup>rd<\/sup> and 4<sup>th<\/sup> grades, they can be adjusted for any grade level. We look forward to hosting you and your students here.
